In this episode, I talk with Austin and Jason Jones, a father-son hunting team from here in Michigan. They call themselves the Jones Boys Hunting Squadand you can find them on Facebook at @jonesboyshuntingsquad.
These two are amazing, Austin is confined to a wheelchair, and even with that, he is one hunting machine. He hunts with a crossbow and with the assistance of his dad, Austin hunts lots of different game animals. Austin looks at his target through the scope of the crossbow and directs his dad in aiming and pulling the trigger at the time Austin tells him too.
You can see Austin and Jason’s hunts online, Austin does all the editing of videos and posts them to the Jones Boys Hunting Squad Facebook page.
Austin and Jason have some great companies that they work with to keep Austin out hunting.
In this episode, I spend a few minutes talking with Jim Shockey about his father Hal, his father-in-law Len and the values that were passed down related to family and hunting and what Jim, wants his grandkids to know.
If you are not familiar with Hal and Len, here is a video from YouTube that will leave you laughing. To learn more about Jim Shockey, please go to http://www.jimshockey.comwhere you can learn about Jim’s museum, watch some videos, access all of Jim’s social media, and book a hunt.
In this episode, I talk with Dean Trumbley and Kent Michie, hosts of Bushnell’s Trigger Effect TV (triggereffect.tv). The show is on a number of places including The Sportsman channel, My Outdoor TV (myoutdoortv.com) and you can access prior season’s on their website.
We discuss a number of items ranging from how the show came about, Dean and Kent’s outdoor past, and something we are all passionate about which is stopping hunters from attacking other hunters. Dean and Kent made an awesome video about this called Hunting – The Big Picture (Hunting – The Big Picture). It was fantastic to talk with fellow outdoorsmen who believe like I do that without a change in how some hunters feel that they are entitled to put their views onto others, hunting and fishing could be in trouble for future generations.
We also spend time discussing how Dean and Kent run their show and that they do a lot of filming for each other, self-filming and maybe occasionally take a cameraperson with them. This keeps the hunt more intimate without having to have a large number of people go on trips with them.
During their recent trip to the Shot Show (an industry event in Las Vegas), Dean and Kent were able to visit with some of their sponsors to see new products. Dean and Kent made some great videos on Shot Show products including an awesome Savage Model 212 bolt action Turkey gun (https://youtu.be/PtDjaNh1uZI), and if you are a predator hunter, the new Primo’s DogNet call (https://youtu.be/j6fEogVm-NM

The 450 Bushmaster cartridge was the first mass cartridge in use and the start of Brenton arms.
